I explained to Chan how Eugene Kanai called a few hours ago, said he wanted to tell me something he knew about Kama’s murder. We knew that guys on the inside do hear a lot about what’s up in the criminal community, so Eugene having info on the case was no surprise.
What did surprise both of us was that he’d known something that got him killed. Whatever it was, it must have been big news.
Chan wanted to know more about what Kama had been up to. We went into his office and took a look at his files. It was a wife who believed her husband was cheating on her. It looked routine, except for one thing.
“This couple, Sylvia and Lambert Robertson,” said Chan, “I was just at their house yesterday morning. A guy got killed there.”
