Aging Song (4)

All those frozen memories thawing loose.
Fragments unstuck, warming moments.
Mine, those panned gold nuggets glittering up.

With many false fool glistenings – I hear
So quite often – is disco dead?
No, it appears to me.  Much of music
Nowadays fills the rhythmic bill.  Debts paid,
And you’re paying still.  I recall
Multi-mirrored balls flashed rainbows with no
Pot of gold.  Fired.  Our inferno burned.
Your arms swirl sparks, warm whorls scattering
Kaleidoscope.  Angel Flight, see
It? Flairs, they’re wide.  Bell bottoms?  Bootcut? Legs,
Opening from the ankles up.
That trend won’t end, I prayed, our scissor-style.

It keeps licking up. Surprising me – Why?
For us, those sometimes fly – All is
But whirls, Angel Flight, and you’ve spiraled up,
Up and away, a Martin’s fable
Winging.  I wish we’d treated us
Another way where we’d have both survived.
