Time Lesson 10: Cutting Ties

He had a baby once.
He didn’t survive the pregnancy.
Neither did it.  Neither did she.
A crisis back then.  What to do, what to do?
They found a bargain, too inexpensive to pass up.
I mean $200, how could you not want to jump on that?
Cash only then.  It’s quite amazing, don’t you think?
The older we get, the more things become legal.

He never felt so alone, driving her there, saying nothing.
Remember rain and gray morning. You should hold onto things
like that.  He thinks he should have.  He knows that now.
Even if, at the time, it seemed impossible. It would have been
far better than holding onto nothing but dead memory.
He knows that now, says, I do, I do.
