Democracy in Action (HS 138)

Every one of us saw him as an ignorant ass,
and the beer was cold, and the oaths flowed,
and maybe we thought of that high-school bully,
the one we wished someone had beaten silly,
the one who needed to be flayed to jelly,
whipped to raw meat, food fit for wolves and worms,
needed it like no one had ever needed to be pounded bloody
in the history of the world of deserved thrashed desserts.
And the beer was cold, and the talk was talked,
and we sat and pondered, and we sat and wondered,
and we figured sooner or later we’d get ourselves up,
all walk the walk, rise up pretty much for sure
and do our duty, take down the once and future fool,
with a fury we’d summon like Hell had never seen, maybe.
