Icebergs, although you may find yourself in a situation
where one might appear to be bearing down on you,
are victims of wind and water current, my friends,
bullied about according to the whims of nature.
They do not possess little engines they throttle up
when they spy you ahead in the water,
wanting to take you down, evil intentioned icebergs,
flying the Jolly Roger, acting like renegade rabid Panda Bears.
When you approach them, the nearer you get,
the more you notice how deepest blue they are, not white or clear.
Even though none have ever been domesticated,
icebergs are very tame in the wild and enjoy being petted.
Bergs, in fact, yearn for human contact and respond well to it.
And icebergs also do not mind if you lick them.
They taste like diamonds melting in your mouth,
are sweet, not salty at all.
Yes, they’ve been given a bad rap, icebergs.
Incidents like the sinking of the Titanic being an example.
Before you judge, however, I ask you to consider this:
Who really did run into whom?
