I sit watching a school of tiny blue fish
Zip lively in and out along the wharf
Imagine jumping in to join them
But instead of swimming
I sink the way a pebble would
Breathe salt water air and land on the bottom
Sit there breathing in and out
My lungs adapting
Almost as if I’ve become a fish
But I’m not anymore
