Memoriam

He suffered
The unkindest
Of mental lapses
The long one
And then longer and
Longer so very ugly
An omen deeply darkening
Tearing a wound gaping abyss
That would break apart
Our hearts in slow pieces
Down so small
To a dusty end
Hit then with a wind
That blew them
Into dizzy swirls
Disbursed them as air
Invisible building blocks
Knocked down so tiny
That when they disappeared
It was as if they never
Existed
The unfairest lapse
Of all that tore him
Away from us
So long
Before he died
