The sea rises and falls
helpless under the moon
waves roll on their cover –
in sunlight birds dove and preyed
striking and piercing her skin
snatching and gorging on her treasures –
sharks trail under her surface
watch to teach invasion tales –
a bell tolls night
danger approaches
violence looms
death arrives
tearing and tattering –
dawn reaches out her arm –
a water reject washed ashore
we are debris
lying in shallow sandy graves
