You Cook with Gas (HS 141)

With you, every day is lemon meringue day,
that balance of sweet and sour on my tongue,
huge fruit grown on your tree, I watch you stretch,
pluck each one, golden, your careful hand,
day after day by that lazy bay I fantasize,
wait breathless, picture you baking just for me,
anticipating so the taste of your perfect pie.

With you, every day is oatmeal cookie day,
each perfect ball of dough, rolled so in your hands,
artist of chocolate chip distribution, you touch me with your care,
and I wonder at the possibility of you baking only for me,
everything in the world, as I reciprocate, your music break,
while we wait, I salivate, plucked with soft finger tips, I sing,
you come back, listen, share your raisin aroma of love rising.
