Time: Lesson #2

You must be right-handed.

I blush, turn my head and give her a sideways glance.

Oh no, not that.  I can tell by the tension in your right shoulder.

I nod, wait for the punchline.  She’s a real comedian. Likes to joke with me.

Your whole right arm must be tired too, having reached so often, and to what purpose?

This puzzles me.  You’ve watched me my whole life.  Don’t you know?

Yes, but I’m asking you to tell me what you’ve reached for and caught?

Well, you’re here with me.  I’ve caught you, haven’t I?

She laughs.  Just because I’m with you today, Lanning, doesn’t mean I’ll be with you tomorrow.

Are you saying you won’t be here?

No, no, I’m just telling you. No one ever catches me. I’m swift.
Run after me, and I’ll be gone before you know it.
