Time Lesson 8: Forgetting

Those wet clothes discovered in the washing machine, that strong smell of mildew calling my attention.
More than a bare cupboard, the entire warehouse inventory is shipping now.
Someone you think’s been sleeping in your bed.
First it’s harder to talk, easier to listen, then harder to hear at all.
I’m a witness to the swirl of thoughts draining down the world
I swear I built sometime traveling the upside of the arc.
Barely remember counting words, like what oblivion means,
maybe the word whose definition I’m exploring, one
tentative footstep at a time, my life running through some dictionary.
I see I see the Zs’s end up ahead, next stop I’ll sleep in my own bed, drowsing down,
less tossing over less, much less mining the exhausted vein,
I’m forgetting to spell zyzzyva one letter at a time.
So sleep my child and peace. Lullaby to
less uproar floats a minute before midnight, and I
