It began in early December,
Just a brief 30 days or so ago,
And already I know,
As a 45-year smoker
Who tried to quit for 45 years,
The time to reverse course
And lay my lucky Sudoku
Pencil down has passed.
With nothing wiser to do
One morning last month
I attempted my first Sudoku.
The burning frustration,
Like the enticing aroma
Of burning tobacco,
Attracted me immediately,
And as I play more and more
And more games,
Each day I become better
And insanely non-intuitively
The frustration level grows.
You will discover severe
Of a perfectionist you are
When you play Sudoku
For the high stakes of choosing
The correct number
For each of 81 squares
81 times.
I have yet to get through
A single game
Without making at least
One wrong choice
Between two possibilities,
And that has made
All the damn difference.
My name is Lanning
