I have voted in 13 presidential elections. My candidate has won 6 times. When my candidate won, I never said “America has spoken” because I didn’t want those who voted for the opposing candidate to think that I meant ALL America has spoken for my candidate. I think some people who say “America has spoken” mean that EVERYONE has spoken for their candidate, and that is saddening.
I voted for the winner in: 2020, 2012, 2008, 1996, 1992, and 1978. The first election in which I could vote was 1974. I started out backing the losing candidate, but this didn’t discourage me.
You know, if this were baseball, and if, lifetime, I had a hit 6 times in every 13 times at bat, I’d be the richest baseball player in history. Move over, Shohei Ohtani : )
