Whenever I saw the ad, I’d wonder what would stay there
Adultery, drugs, murder – what threshold needed to be met
How much could tongues wishing to wag, reporters hungry for news
Expect to let happen before the dam broke, and the story escaped to the world
Vegas – Busan – is not, although this place was known at one time
As Korea’s ‘Wild West’ where crime rampaged and the syndicate ruled
All manner of criminal activity including murder was a part of daily life
Until the government decided to clean the place up
Throw all the gangsters in jail so the city would cease to be
The cesspool it had become
And now it’s presentable, even if criminal enterprise still lurks beneath the surface
You would never guess it unless you were a part of or a victim of it
No, Busan is not Las Vegas, and this much I know is true
I’ll carry away what happened to me there because of you
