You Are a Star

It was the perfect way your body wore
The “I am a Star” T-shirt I brought to Madison
A collector’s item printed for our Aloha Week float
And the next day you blew me away
With the way it clung to you like new skin
If I loved you before, the lust piling on by the second
Took whatever that feeling was beyond the moon
You were the galaxies and every star
And all that we know about or will discover out there
Where you are now, somewhere, your spirit, not just
The body that was you, quiet in a box beneath the snow
The one that made you that much more than everything to me
Love and lust, and longing for all the time together coming
Stretching out to eternity with you and me
