Planes are for writing poetry
Think turbulence encountering
Perhaps Death’s come a’knocking
His scythe gleaming keenly
Bringing instant panic with stomach acrobatics
An inspirational moment of urgency
That flare of creative compression and immediacy
All good stuff for jamming out some poetry
Trains are for prose, long and leisurely
Stately procession of slow snaking laze
Our grand parade’s history on display
Reflecting on tomes
Chronicling all of humanity
Cars are for either
Using voice-activated recorders
Suspense and fraught drama
Always leaping into focus
Cursed fragments randomly blurted
Amid gas, brakes, and clutching
Applied in crazily sporadic succession
While dodging dumbass drivers
And pedestrians meandering
Searching for their karma
In the middle of traffic
Dreaming a dazed otherworldly wandering
Buses, like trains, inspire long haul writing
It could be Leaves of Grass or Don Quixote
Homer, Shakespeare, or Milton
Dickens, Melville, or Pynchon
No matter the genre
Greyhound odysseys can roll on and on and on
Mopeds, motorcycles, bicycles, and skateboards
Call for 100% attention when in operation
Even composing in your head while moving along
Could be the prologue to your sorry story’s swan song
