Listening to nothing in the cool morning
I smile as Buddha would if I only were
And blow a kiss that molds caress
Around the older souls who need
Pay no more lip service to daily angst
Don’t have to argue everything about everything
A lot of the living I attempt to ignore
Would be nice to be as easy as the way
I ignore my car weeping for a wash
Here I stand hand-squeezing orange juice
My rise and shine ritual to clear my mind
Inhale this citrus scent to seek quieting
From this small thinking nothingness performed
In the style of every quieted mind before mine
Smiling down to me from way back them
All cradling me in their collective arms
Down through the centuries tied by
An echoing back and forth among us all
Harmonics of beloved ancestors unwavering
Sip it all in and sigh and close my eyes
And wait to feel no weight of all life’s noise
