Do Them Part

Someone wake him before he dreams of her again
He sees them stroll the shore with pant leg cuffs rolled up
To save them from the lapping waves of their walk
In the wet sand that leaves no footprints of any man
He hears that moaning sound
Jest the wind and the water in perfect harmony
Singing how Nature goes in the gray day
Such a pretty melody so mournful in its premonition
Music too of a solemn hope for safe passage
No lyric can express how hard the weary burden to be borne
Those bright flowers laid against the black frame
A picture of her still
Captured moment of a smiling life
Stopped time he thought
So the end of them would never come
And now she’s gone
Someone wake him before he dreams of her again
