When do you know you’re You?
Self-realization, Self-actualization
Coming in from the swirl of identity unhinged
You swinging wildly in the storm of the not yet Me
The door shut tight behind you signaling
That warmth of Identity achieved
The moment of recognition when who?
Becomes Him Her They
No longer a piecemeal building
Of blocks under construction
But a soaring full-fledged You
Come out of the wind and rain
Personhood poncho rife with holes of unknowing
Cast off in this monumental moment of holy wholeness
Wrapped up in that warm sheltering of hot cocoa and tiny marshmallows
From the cold of treading murky water mystery
In a torrent of whys and wherefores
And I’d like to everyone whose comments about me
I’ve absorbed to this nanosecond of life
Like a balloon being blown up to realize its balloonhood
How they’ve helped shape my perception
Of this Me I was coming to be
The Me formed too of every book I’ve read
Every movie and TV show I’ve seen
All the songs I’ve heard over the soundtrack of my years
How all of this has assisted in building
The blueprint, foundation, and the infrastructure
Of Me under construction like a Howard Hughes condo
Not to mention all the loves I’ve had and the ones I’ve lost
The influential people in my life who’ve passed on
All of this culminating in a monster flash of a moment
A mental explosion of pinpoint accurate perception
The a-ha moment mother of all a-ha moments
So are you there yet?
Do you know who You are?
Have you grasped your reason for being?
Are congratulations in order?
As for me
I realize only
I’ve still not found Me
