A Self-Effacing Beauty

Not just another pretty face
Or boasting of looks other women should mimic
Taught at a young age to value nothing by appearance as a
Judicious outlook for a woman possessing such a beauty of
Unmatched singularity I knew briefly
She shimmered with a diamond glow uncut
The muted effacing flicker of unaffected grace that
Always humbly playing down her exquisite elegance
Never would be found observing herself in a mirror
Obsessing over the transience of beauty that will slip
Time repossessing all of her eventually as must occur
Her loveliness outlasting all the wearing to dust with age
