A writer should show and not tell
I’ve heard that advice forever
So if you and I were a story
The better final line would have been
For me to write that you turned and walked away
Rather than have you tell me you were leaving
But as last lines of stories go
From this writer’s point of view
If I have you tell me you’re leaving
Then in print you’re still there
So we’d be together forever
And that’s the preferable story’s end
