I wonder
If the moon imparts
A four billion year old
History lesson
Do I miss any instruction
Asleep most times below
Unable to know
What wisdom she might offer
To enlighten me
Having passed over us
So long
But who am I kidding
Why would she take any time
To teach me anything
My being so insignificant
I’d not be worth
A passing notice
To the moon I’m here and gone
Swifter than the blink of an eye
Why would she care
Whether I wake up the next day
Let alone
Waste any effort
To give me even the time of night
My being
Is of so little matter
It’s nothing at all
Compared to her
