Climbing Yellow Mountain
We take our turns
Shout out
This place famous for echoes
How long will our “Hello”s
Last?
I manage
A solid bellow
Voice of an old teacher
A one-time actor projecting
Into the surrounding silence
Then sit back and listen
The echo bouncing
Back and forth
Some neon green tennis ball
Losing momentum
Subject to time
Flagging white flutters
Fraying in the wind
Dying away down canyons
Here on earth
Still all our sound
Will continue on forever
Out through the universe
Traveling limitless distances
Somewhere too vast to fathom
Silent journey into eternity
