Very much like my father
I try not to argue with friends
Not because we always agree with them
but because we wonder about
The possible consequences of conflict
Arguments may lead to a falling out
And once we establish a strong relationship
Which we don’t do frequently
Our circles of true friends not large
We consider that bond sacred
So even if we disagree with someone
Whom we’ve allowed into a very tight circle
We refrain from threatening that interconnection
So for friends who mean so much to us
There is great love and acceptance
