Last Night

You chill me ocean cold
The moon unsettling night
As you draw back your hand
I glimpse a raw dawn horizon
Our years will only be brief vision
Distance of passed up nights
Hard to be revisited in time
And for the last time
You and I
What all this means
The end of days
Of Mānoa Garden evenings
McCully Chop Suey psychic readings
Lei making lessons
Romping at Ala Moana
Lifeguards tense with our splashing
Their eyes on us
Laughing to the reef and back
Our shrieking just our older aged joy
We both can swim
Now drift apart a last time
Meaning this night’s sun
Will not rise for me
