No Way

Sleep sometimes this dream where
Darkness should not be
So black as it’s been painted

Go back to playing tag
On the metal tasting jungle-gym
So soar the heights of my young life

And then my parents call me home
For supper, love, and bed
A life that could not be more simple

But my dream memory’s a deceiver
Unweaves the design of my fairy tale
With no return to an empty playground

Ever attracted like a magnet pulls me
At best I stand by the side and watch
The long past dream of childhood awake
