The biggest bag of popcorn available
Fathomless fancy for it
College football season has begun
Pass, run, and kick into my heart
Popcorn all day and into the evening hours
A wholistic synergy
Some teams I’ve never even heard of
Wellbeing comes with practice
Anonymity doesn’t matter when there’s popcorn
There is often light in the darkness
Four games on my screen simultaneously
I reach riveted for each handful without looking
Tragedy strikes when we least expect it
Not an injured player or lightning strike
The popcorn has run out
Practice will make perfect
Got to get back in the swing of a brand new season
Memories mixed of August and desire
Saturdays were always a two-bag day
Games pass before my eyes
Popcorn withdrawal snatches me from any victory’s jaws
Popcorn and football are two sides of the same flipped coin
My UH Rainbows lose their season opener
Amid sorrow there is some joy
My beer supply holds
Our loss

My TV screen swims a bit before my burning eyes
And I manage a wistful beery smile
