Back to Basics

Did you learn anything yesterday?
I learned that notes of a song
Are played like daisies being plucked along a path.
I learned that the color of footprints on that path
Is the color of impressions made by my absent feet,
And the color of that space is clear.
I learned that at the time I made the exchange,
1 Euro equaled $1.09 U.S.
I learned I didn’t know
If buying Euros yesterday was a good deal.
I learned I don’t really know
Or even care about exchange rates.
I mean, I’m not swapping piles of cash.
Just a little amount.
I lead a small-change kind of life.
But I knew that already.
I didn’t learn that yesterday.
Conversion rate concerns are for big money movers to sweat.
Yesterday I relearned that I sweat small stuff.
I already knew I’m a paycheck-to-paycheck person.
I definitely learned that long before yesterday.
This is the end of my song about what I learned yesterday.
