A Close Shave (100 words)

Since he’d been introduced to Rudy, he’d go every Saturday for a professional shave.  During the week, he settled for his own razor.  Saturday was special.

The bell rang as he entered.  He thought about It’s a Wonderful Life, how a bell ringing means an angel’s earned its wings.

      No Rudy.

He walked back, opened the storage room door.  Nothing.  He walked through, opened the bathroom door.

Rudy sat slumped against the wall, his throat cut from ear to ear, his straightedge gleaming on the floor.

This weekend was starting badly.  For one, he’d have to find a new barber.
